About the Business
Brickwork pointing becomes necessary once the mortar between bricks begins to erode. Erosion is most commonly caused due to driving rain, wind and frost which slowly erodes the mortar over time.
Once the mortar falls behind the face of the brickwork it becomes increasingly prone to continued erosion and can result in a number of issues. The most evident being water seeping into the wall causing dampness.
In the colder months of the year this water can freeze within the wall and expand; this freezing and melting then causes wider openings and cracks within the wall allowing more and more water to penetrate.
This often results in water seeping into the interior of the building causing internal dampness and the only cure is to hire a specialist to re-point the exterior brickwork.
Once the wall is at this stage of disrepair bricks will often become loose and mortar may even fall from the wall. Eventually this will cause a safety hazard and immediate repair is the best and most cost effective remedy.
Re-pointing at this stage could save you a great deal of time, money and hassle in the future. Re-pointing is a temporary but relatively long-term remedy and you can trust that our re-pointing work will last for many years to come.
