New Build Roofing
The roof is the most dominant feature so it therefore needs careful consideration at the start. The roof covering has several factors which include the style of house you live in to what type of tile is to be used. The main choice of tile at present is, concrete, slate, clay but there is a lot to choose from so it is very important that you choose carefully at the beginning, with advise from PPF to guide you and planning. Here are some examples as to what materials are used:
Clay Tiles:
These tiles are machine made and have a very long lifespan, however the weather does not help with their lifespan due to the cold and wet winters that we have. These tiles are great for more complex detail and come in all different colours and sizes.
Interlocking Tiles:
These tiles reduce the need for overlapping. The weight of the roof will be reduce depending on what tile is used as some can be heavier and less tiles will be used for the coverage.
Slate:
Slate needs overlapping to ensure that the roof is water tight and needs to be laid on battens over an underlay. There are many different varieties of slate which PPF will help and advise you on and different colours of slate too. These are very durable and versatile and have an extremely low water absorption.
Concrete Tiles:
There is a vast range available which offer improved waterproofing, secured fixings and good prices . The majority of new builds have these tiles as there is a wide range of colours and textures. The tile gives a perfect finish creating a superb finish to a traditional pitched roof design.
